Instead of us picking a static window, we let the system deliver each message during the specific 24-hour window when an individual is most likely to actually open, click, and buy.
The results over 10 campaigns made our "optimal" fixed times look like guesswork:
- +12.1% Click rate lift
- +4.1% Open rate lift
- +2.1% Placed order lift
- +4.8% Total performance lift
But here’s the "founder lens" you won't find in the help docs: Automation is a force multiplier, but if the plumbing is leaky, you’re just flooding the basement faster.
🌍 The Geography Glitch 🌍
Personalized send time is calculated based on your account timezone. If you’re not careful with your scheduling sequence, you’ll end up "double-tapping" your international customers by accident.
The "Spam-by-Schedule" Scenario:
- Jan 1st: You schedule a Personalized Send Time campaign (Account based in EST).
- Jan 2nd: You schedule a standard 9:00 AM User Timezone campaign.
Imagine a customer in Australia (AEDT). Because your Jan 1st EST window opens at 4:00 PM their time on the 1st, Klaviyo might look at their data and decide the "best" time to deliver that first email is actually 9:00 AM AEDT on Jan 2nd.
The Result:
They get the Jan 1st email and the Jan 2nd email at the exact same second. To them, you don't look like a premium brand; you look like a broken bot.
🧹 The March "Spring Clean" Playbook 🧹
March is the month to tighten these screws before the Q2 push begins. If you want the revenue lift without the deliverability headache:
- Mind the 48-Hour Gap: If you use Personalized logic today, don't use User Timezone tomorrow. Give the global delivery window room to finish its cycle.
- The "Re-mail" Hack: Use March to re-send your best Q1 creative to "Non-Openers" using Personalized Send Time. It’s the fastest way to prove whether your content failed or your timing did.
- Audit the System, Not Just the Open: A +12% click rate is only a win if it isn't coming at the cost of long-term brand equity and increased spam complaints.
Growth is about owning the infrastructure, not just the clicks. If your dashboard says things are "working" but your repeat revenue is stalling, you’re likely ignoring the plumbing.
Cheers,
Josh
